The news that Microsoft was about to release the successor to Windows Vista started as a rumor. The rumored Windows was code named Blackcomb, Vienna and Windows 7. Now Mike Nash says that they are about to release the OS and named it the simplest of its code names, Windows 7. Read his statement here.

Too bad it's not so simple. Turns out Windows 7 is actually 6.1.
Yeah, its screenshots suggest that it's the same with Vista (Windows 6.0).
